Ministerial Formation

Developing healthy, Godly, competent leaders

Our goal of having a healthy church within the reach of everyone in Canada and beyond requires that we have spiritually healthy, Godly, and competent pastoral leaders.

From walking alongside a person as they take their first steps towards God’s call on their life, to providing resources to help pastors develop ministry skills, to supporting leaders’ personal, relational, and spiritual health, the FMCIC is committed to doing all we can to support the ongoing development of all leaders.

Credentialing (Preparation for Ministry)

Education

One of the core values of the Free Methodist church is learning. We also seek to invest resources strategically and mature those who desire to grow as part of our national church mission.

Developing gifted and passionate Christian leaders for ministry in the Free Methodist Church is a priority. Over the years faithful visionaries have set aside special education funds, providing scholarships for emerging leaders. The Leadership Scholarship Plan makes grants available to students who are pursuing ministry within The Free Methodist Church in Canada. Since 2003 all new students receiving scholarship funds must be recommended for Ministerial Candidacy by their local church board.

Each year, dozens of students receive scholarships to study at a number of approved ministry training institutions across the country.

Pastoral Development

We continue to provide our pastors with ongoing training and development, supporting them in effective ministry.

Pastoral Health

A healthy pastor desires to step fully into all that God has created and called them to be, striving to lead, disciple and care for people out of their own deeply rooted relationship with God.

Here you will find resources to help pastors take steps toward maintaining or improving their own personal health.
