The Operations Team is here to serve our churches, pastors, and ministries together with excellence and grace – so everyone who connects with us feels supported and valued.
We can help you with church stewardship, generosity, finance, central payroll, health and dental benefits, pensions, as well as proving guidance in compliance and legal matters.
Our Giving Together - CORE Ministry Fund
In 1860, BT Roberts and other Methodists founded the Free Methodist Church in an effort to renew Wesley’s vision, and eventually the Canadian Conference was formed in 1880. Generosity and Stewardship has always been at the heart of the Wesleyan revival. John Wesley considered it an integral part of Christian discipleship. Giving of financial resources was a necessary spiritual discipline of every member of the Wesleyan classes and societies. This is emphasized in Wesley’s sermon on money in “Gain all you can, save all you can and give all you can.” The purpose of gaining all you can and saving (not wasting) all you can was in order to give all you can; and in this way demonstrate the love of God and our neighbour.
Our Giving together is how we collectively impact our communities across Canada and globally. The Canadian Conference used the same system for determining denominational support as our American friends did, but our context and demographics are not the same. In the 1990s, the Canadian structure became unsustainable – but – we had both the courage and will to simplify our structure and Denominational Support – our CORE Ministry Giving – in order to continue our ministry together and the impact we have.
This is the origin of CORE Ministry Giving. In 1996, there was a unanimous vote to simplify our church giving, based on the model of the biblical tithe – 10% – so that we could continue to support each other and minister together.
How to calculate CORE Ministry Giving
Core Giving from local churches primarily supports the ministry of our National Leadership Team (NLT) and the ministry areas they represent. Core Giving funds the oversight, empowerment and administrative ministries of the NLT.

The Remittance Form
As a connectional family of faith, we believe that every congregation has a vital role in supporting the mission and ministry of the Church. Through the faithful remittance of core ministry giving, congregations contribute to the shared work that allows us to serve, support, and grow together. Your generosity helps provide resources for ministries, leadership, and outreach across our communities and beyond.
How to send CORE Ministry Giving
We are a connectional family of faith, united by our shared commitment to God’s mission. Through our collective ministries, resources, and generosity, we support one another in serving communities across Canada and beyond. By faithfully sharing our gifts, we strengthen the work of the Church and enable ministries to flourish in ways no congregation could accomplish alone. Together, we live out our calling — because we are better together.
Annual Impact Report
Our connectional identity reminds us that we are part of something larger than ourselves. Through our shared commitments, ministries, and resources, we are able to respond to God’s call more effectively together than we could ever do alone. Annual reporting helps us celebrate the ways God is working through our congregations and ensures that we continue to strengthen our shared mission and ministry.
Giving Beyond CORE Ministry
In addition to our CORE Ministry Fund, local churches are invited to partner in giving towards our four designated ministry areas. Designated donations are processed using the same remittance form for CORE Giving.

Central Payroll
The FMCIC serves our churches and camps by providing a central payroll service for all pastors and staff.
Group Benefits
As part of working together, we are able to provide group benefits coverage for employees. Any employees working at least 20 hours per week are eligible to apply for our group benefits coverage…
FMCIC Pension Plan
As part of working together, we are able to provide a pension plan for staff to provide in their retirement. It is up to each individual local church to offer the pension plan as part of the letter/offer of employment and is based on board approval. .
We provide a Defined Contribution (DC) Pension Plan with Canada Life
