When Jesus was surrounded with the crowds who were like sheep without a shepherd, He did not turn to His disciples and say, “You need to work harder to meet this need”, or “You need to work smarter to meet this need.” No, He instructed them to do what is at the heart of how the kingdom and will of God comes on earth, and that is to pray. As a movement, we realize that we can busy ourselves with programs, good works, organization, buildings and budgets, but unless we are empowered by the Spirit of God, we are labouring in vain.

When Jesus rode into Jerusalem as king, He cleared the temple of worldly efforts and declared that it was to be first and foremost a house of prayer for all nations. As a family of churches, we want to be a living temple of prayer that calls upon the Lord of the Harvest to move us and others with new compassion, courage and power to proclaim the life-transforming good news to all of Canada and to every nation.
