National Prayer Ministry

The Free Methodist Church in Canada has initiated a National Prayer Ministry that is designed to help fan the flames of prayer in our lives and churches.  The goal is to see an obvious move of the Holy Spirit throughout our movement. Ken Roth was appointed as the National Prayer Team Coordinator, “Our dream is that, as a movement we become a house of prayer. So that means every local church needs to become a house of prayer.  How do we do that? One of the things we feel will help us is a point person at every local church who can be a catalyst for prayer. Working with the pastor and board so it becomes part of the culture of the local church.”

Each local church has been asked to appoint a Prayer Point Person who partners with their pastor to encourage a spirit of prayer within their local church.  These folks also gather together virtually to pray together. Every month, Ken Roth hosts a Zoom Prayer Meeting to discuss a video from FMCUSA’s website Deepening Prayer for Transformational Revival.  The group then prays together for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and a revival of prayer that will usher in a revival of power.  “We encourage the local church to create opportunities for groups of people to view this video series on transformational prayer and then pray together to fan the prayer flame.”

Debbie Stewart from North Grenville Community Church in Kemptville, ON was asked by her pastor to become a Prayer Point Person.  “Our church has been praying and seeking the leading of the Holy Spirit for sometime prior to me being asked to take on this role.  I’m seeking the leading of the Spirit as to how He will set the church on a journey towards a deeper desire to pray. We are currently a church that prays I hope we will become a praying church seeking to know God the Father, God the Son & God the Holy Spirit to know His love for us and walk in that love.”

Brian Brasier from Trulls Road Free Methodist Church in Courtice, ON was also asked to be . his congregation’s representative for the Prayer Point Person initiative. “Although it was slightly different than praying in person, once we got started, there was a sense of connectedness with the other participants. God’s presence, guidance and prompting could be felt throughout our time together.”

The FMCiC’s prayer ministry is steadily growing.  If your church doesn’t have a Prayer Point Person or you would like more information regarding the National Prayer Ministry please contact Ken Roth.  If you have a story to share about prayer please contact Alison McKinnon.
