Update from Sri Lanka: Hope After the Flooding

Sri Lanka has recently faced severe flooding and landslides that have displaced families, damaged homes, and left many without food or basic supplies. In the midst of this devastation, our Free Methodist brothers and sisters are witnessing God’s grace and the power of prayer.

This message is from Rev Pramila’s husband, Pradeep:
“My heart is full of gratitude for all of you who kept Sri Lanka in your prayers during the recent disaster. Your prayers made us feel less alone. The weather has now calmed, and people are slowly returning to their homes. Some are cleaning what remains of their belongings, while others—especially those affected by landslides—are still in temporary camps. We see God’s grace as Sri Lankans and neighbouring countries share relief, materials, and support to help rebuild.”

Another story comes from a team that travelled into the hard-to-reach Dolosbage region. After a long and difficult journey, they reached five temporary shelters where families had gone days without eating. They delivered dry rations, clothing, and essential medicine, and prayed with those who were struggling.

Thanks to prayer and the dedication of local leaders, relief is reaching those most affected — but the need remains significant.
