Church Loans & Mortgage Programs
The FMCIC has two programs which can assist your church in emergency funding (except salary and building fund) or help fund your church renovation, repair or build: the Loan Program and the Mortgage Program.
Because all church properties are classified as commercial, the Management Board looks at the current commercial interest rates to set the interest rates for Loans and Mortgages. Any changes to your current rate will be applied at renewal.
Both programs (Loan + Mortgage) offer a renewable, open financing option for churches, which can be amortized up to 10 years for loans and 20 years for mortgages. And unlike most financial institutions, there are no setup fees or penalties for early repayment.

Church Bonds - (Currently on Hold)
Every Free Methodist Church in Canada can make an even greater impactful investment in
Gospel ministry by purchasing Bonds. Each Bond purchased helps another FM Church with their capital project. Consider helping another Free Methodist church by purchasing a Bond. For more information on how you can also serve in this way, contact support@fmcic.ca
Facilitating Gifts of Publicly Traded Securities
Gifts of stocks or mutual funds (publicly traded securities) is a simple, Tax-Efficient way to give to support ministry at your local church, camp or any other Free Methodist Church in Canada ministry. Since gifts of stocks or mutual funds come from assets rather than income, they receive a more favourable tax treatment.
The Free Methodist Church in Canada can handle most transactions on behalf of your church/camp or FMCIC ministry.
If anyone would like to donate shares/securities to your church, camp or FMC Ministry, please provide them with the Securities Transfer Form. For assistance, please contact support@fmcic.ca.
Church Incorporations
FMCIC recommends each of its member churches consider incorporation based on their own unique circumstances. It is not mandatory for a church, typically operating either as a not-for-profit organization or a charitable organization, to incorporate (other than in Quebec) and incorporation is not a solution for every church. It takes time, money, and energy to get and keep corporate status. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that proper research in tandem with legal advice be undertaken before beginning the incorporation process.

Governance & Compliance
The Operations Team can provide general information and resources to help you navigate various governance and CRA compliance, including sample board policies and templates, as well as contacts for legal expertise. If you have a question/issue, you can contact us at support@fmcic.ca and an Operation Team member will respond.
We also recommend that local churches subscribe to the services of the Canadian Centre for Christian Charities (CCCC) who have a team of accountants, HR Practitioners and ministry specialists to help your church; and Plan to Protect – the official good standard for abuse prevention and vulnerable sector protection in ensuring good practice. Both of these Christian organizations offer practical guidance and support in governance and compliance.
