Get Ready for an Exciting General Conference 2027
General Conference 2027 marks the beginning of a new chapter for our Free Methodist family, and we hope your church will begin planning now to be part of it.
More Than a Conference – A Family Gathering
From April 15–18, 2027, we’ll gather at The Westin Hotel in Ottawa for a weekend of worship, discernment, celebration, and connection. General Conference is where we make important decisions for our denomination, but it is so much more than a business meeting.
We want General Conference to be an eye-opening and inspiring experience. It will offer a broader perspective on the ministry taking place across our country and will remind us that we are part of something much bigger than our own local church. It is one of the few times we experience the breadth of our Free Methodist family as we gather from across Canada to worship and pray together, encourage one another, and discern His direction for our future.
Invite the Next Generation
We encourage every church to consider sending emerging leaders and young adults whenever possible. General Conference provides a unique opportunity for younger leaders to experience the wider ministry of the Free Methodist Church in Canada, build meaningful relationships, and be inspired to take their place in God’s ongoing work among us.
Consider Bringing the Family
This year, we’re also inviting pastors and Lay Delegates to consider bringing their families. While General Conference is the reason we’re gathering, Ottawa provides a wonderful setting for families to enjoy time together before or after the conference. We hope this will make it easier for more pastors to participate while creating meaningful memories alongside this important denominational gathering.
As you prepare your 2027 church budget, we encourage you to plan now for pastors, delegates, and, where possible, emerging leaders, and families to attend. We believe General Conference 2027 will be a significant moment in the life of our denomination, and we look forward to gathering as one Free Methodist family.

We recognize that the this is a significant expense, and we want to provide some context for what is included. The registration fee helps cover a number of conference-related costs, including: • Subsidizing the shared travel expense of all delegates • Two full breakfasts • Two lunches • All coffee breaks • Three evening dessert socials • Conference materials, technology, and meeting expenses • All dinners are on your own (or with a friend) for Thursday, Friday and Saturday |

• Two full breakfasts • Two lunches • Coffee breaks • Three evening dessert socials *Please Note Food costs have risen significantly everywhere, including at conference venues. FMCIC is subsidizing the majority portion of the meal costs to make it affordable so guests can attend and participate at a reduced rate of $150. Participation in the Guest Meal Plan is optional. By opting in, you will partake in the meals and coffee breaks provided. However, there are many eating options within easy walking distance (The Rideau Centre Food Court is connected to the hotel and is open from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) Entrance to General Conference sessions and workshops is free. |
SPECIAL PROVISIONS
Retired Ministers
Retired Ministers can participate as full voting members of General Conference. The registration fee is waived, and your travel expenses are covered. Retired pastors are responsible for booking their hotel rooms.
Church Plants and Pastors in Transition
Active Church Plants formed after General Conference 2024 and Pastors in Transition do not pay the registration fee but are responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs. Please contact Church Planting or Ministerial Formation to inquire about travel and accommodation subsidies.
Registration for General Conference will open in January of 2027.
