CliffsNotes – August 8, 2017

A few years back Terry and Cindy (our pastoral family in Newmarket, ON) contacted me to extend an invitation to use a cottage designated for pastors. “It’ll cost you $100 for the week Cliff,” he said, “and that’s only to pay for the cleaner to prepare the cottage for the next guests.” Karlene and I have now gone twice. We brought up our kayaks, explored both lakes, found a river nearby, jogged, and read. It was beautiful and refreshing. Terry and Cindy have taken this ministry on (promoting and booking) for pastors. They believe in you and want to bless you. They receive no earthly compensation for this ministry! I asked them to tell you about it (let me be clear: I keep saying “Terry and Cindy,” but the truth is that all your emails and contact will be with Cindy. In fact, even though I contacted “Terry and Cindy” to write this, it’s all Cindy!! Thank you Cindy and Terry ):

It has been our privilege over the past several years to assist in managing “Getaway” opportunities for families in full-time ministry, in order to provide a time of rest, reflection, fun, study and recreation.  Through the generosity of a couple that has a heart for pastoral well-being, we have been very blessed to assist with making this opportunity a reality for many families.  Our motivation to be part of this ministry comes from a firm belief that it is imperative to be refreshed spiritually, physically, emotionally and mentally, to effectively minister to others.  We have experienced first-hand the benefits of taking time for retreat and relaxation so that we can serve Christ with the energy, vision, and commitment that He calls us to.  Some recent comments from guests continue to compel us to believe that this opportunity is well worth the investment of our time and energy and we will be forever grateful to the folks that have made this ministry possible.  “We have been facing many difficult challenges over the years, an the timing of our time at the cottage was amazing. Very needed rest for our body and mind.”  “We loved it and it was a wonderful quiet place to rest and retreat. We’d love to book it again next summer if possible.”  “Truly, what a lovely cottage! Not only was everything kept so clean but everything seemed so new! The view of the lake was so inviting and relaxing – especially as a first view in the morning! We loved the stillness.”  “It turned out that the timing for the cottage couldn’t have been better.”
