Origins Charles Tetteh, a native of Ghana, came to the United States to further his education. He started attending Olathe, Kansas, Free Methodist Church. While there, his call to serve God through preaching was renewed, and he desired to bring the Free Methodist witness to his homeland. Charles and his wife, Fredericka, returned to Ghana in June 1998 to initiate this new ministry.
Present Ministries The Ghana FMC, under Rev. Tetteh’s leadership, meets in a primary school. Recently, two leaders completed training requirements and were ordained. Church planting projects continue.
Canadian Involvement The In 2005 the Barrie FMC initiated a partnership with the Ghana Mission District to aid in some specific church development projects. From 2006-2008, John-Mark and Loreli Cockram (Barrie FMC) served a short-term assignment in Accra working with the church there. In 2009 oversight of the Ghana Mission District transferred from the US-based FMC to the Canadian General Conference.
