Something Is Stirring

Something Is Stirring

For this edition of Church Health Thursday, we’re pointing you to a resource that’s well worth watching: Awakening in the UK, a video from Watermark Community Church exploring the surprising spiritual movement taking shape across Britain.

Something is stirring! For decades, the story of the UK church has been one of decline—much like what we’ve experienced here in Canada. It would be easy to assume that faith is simply fading. Yet something remarkable is happening.

A new generation is walking back through church doors—not out of nostalgia, but out of genuine spiritual hunger. Public thinkers who once championed secularism are now openly wrestling with the claims of Christianity, with some embracing faith outright. Recent research also points to a measurable increase in young adults exploring prayer, reading the Bible, and engaging with faith communities. (See the CBC and CTV links below.)

What’s striking isn’t just that people are curious—it’s why. Many are discovering that a purely secular worldview has not provided the meaning, hope, or moral foundation they were searching for. Into that space, the gospel is finding an open door.

We believe there’s an important lesson here for the Canadian Church. While our context isn’t identical to Britain’s, the questions people are asking—about meaning, belonging, purpose, and truth—are remarkably similar. Healthy churches pay attention to these questions and are prepared to respond with both biblical truth and Christlike grace.

Take a few minutes to watch Awakening in the UK this week. As you do, consider these questions:

  • Where do you see signs of spiritual hunger in your own community?
  • How is your church positioned to respond?
  • What opportunities might God already be placing before you?

Perhaps the quiet revival unfolding across the Atlantic is more than an encouraging story. It may be an invitation to pray with fresh expectation for what God desires to do here in Canada
