- Story
Norm went home to be with the Lord in his 90th year on June 5, 2015 in Weyburn, Saskatchewan. He attended Lorne Park College as well as Roberts Wesleyan College and was ordained in 1952. Norm served the Lord in pastoral ministry in the communities of St. Joseph Island and Bruce Mines and also pastored in the communities of Galt and Cambridge before taking a staff position at Central Christian College, a Free Methodist School in McPherson, Kansas.
After his retirement, Norm and Phyllis lived on the campus of Aldersgate College in Moose Jaw where he was fondly known as “Coach” to the students who attended the College in the early 90s. Norm had a wonderful zest for life, always had a sparkle in his eye and constantly found ways to encourage one to see things from a positive perspective and to choose to follow the Lord – no matter what!
Later, he moved to Weyburn, Saskatchewan where, because of his knowledge of construction, he was highly involved in a major expansion of the Free Methodist Church’s facilities there.
Norm was predeceased by his wife Phyllis. He is survived by his children Dale, Ruth Huston, Keith, and Ann Gemmer and their spouses as well as 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
We thank God for this faithful servant’s ministries in both churches and educational institutions.
