John Knoll passed into the presence of his Saviour on Sunday, May 3, 2015 in his 89th year. Those who knew John well would say that he was a person who loved Jesus not only as Saviour, but understood what it meant to also serve him as Lord! His life was given in service to Jesus up until he was taken home to be with Him. John was a “people person”. He enjoyed being around people and was interested in their spiritual welfare.

In his retirement years, he regularly sent a newsletter out to his pastoral buddies – just to keep in touch, and this is where his wonderful sense of humor shone through. He saw the amusing side of life and laughed effortlessly. Over the many years that he served as a Free Methodist pastor, he left his mark on the lives of many people who lived in the various communities where he, and his wife Phyllis pastored Ontario congregations in St. Joseph Island, Caistor Centre, Thedford, Charlemont, Dunnville, Hannon, and Burlington.

We know that there are a variety of people who are either already in heaven, or have their hearts set on heaven, because of the ongoing influence of John’s example and witness. Because his life was touched by the Lord Jesus Christ, grace has flowed through him to touch many others.

John is survived by Esther Teal, Ruth Griffin, Robert, Sylvia and their spouses as well as 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Our thanks to God for the faithful ministry of our brother John Knoll.
