Reverend ALAN ADAMS – He will be missed by his loving wife of 44 years, Jeannette (nee Callan), by his children, Elaine (Mark) Maxwell of Three Hills, Alberta, Tom (Becky) of Lewiston, New York, Stan (Shelley) of Ilderton, Ontario, Rebecca (Len) Cuthbert of Mount Brydges, Ontario; David (Karen) of Cobourg, Ontario, and James (Amy) of Chatham, Ontario, plus 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and his brother Andrew (Sharon) of Orillia, Ontario. Alan was a believer in his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, so he is now absent from the body and present with the Lord.

Alan was the eldest son of Arnold & Kay Adams, born in Toronto, Ontario. Shortly after he was born, the family moved to Cuba to work in evangelism and after a couple of years, his brother, Andrew, was born. Alan did his schooling via correspondence until his early teens and spent the majority of his working life in Christian ministry. He believed that his life’s purpose was “To help others be all they can be for God.”

He started preaching the Gospel at age 15 in Cuba where he also served a missionary apprenticeship with his father the year he turned 20. From 1963 to 1967 he did front-line missions in Chile, South America. In the 1970’s Alan served as an announcer, speaker, and publisher for THE GOSPEL CALL radio ministry out of Arva, Ontario. This program eventually aired on 70 international radio stations. During the early 1980’s he enjoyed serving a small Brethren congregation in Forest, Ontario and from 1985 to 1991 he was involved in the administration of Mission Services of Hamilton, Ontario.

In 1991 he was called to the Free Methodists and had the joy of serving in three different churches – in Sombra and Frankford, Ontario and in Tampa, Florida – until his retirement in 2008. He completed his Master of Theological Studies at Tyndale University in Toronto, driving the 3 hours each week from Sombra to complete his classes in person.

In his retirement, Alan had the honour of being the Interim Pastor for six different Ontario churches of various denominations in the Tillsonburg and Ingersoll area. It was in these years that he earned his second Master’s degree from Evangelical Seminary in Pennsylvania.

Since 2008, Alan and Jeannette have lived at Maple Grove Christian Retreat Centre, Thamesford, Ontario, enjoying the community there. Each of the grandchildren have fond memories of their time spent there, be it for Family Camp or just time spent with and Grandma and Grandpa. Over the years, many a passerby have found themselves engaged in conversation on the front deck of their trailer.

Alan spent his career preaching the Gospel and teaching the Word of God. He was fluent in both English and Spanish and used this gift to minister to communities in Canada, Cuba, and Mexico. It was apparent throughout his career that his gifts and calling were in the preaching and teaching of God’s Word which he faithfully performed until June 7th, 2025. He was known for his gregarious personality and his unpredictable preaching style.

Alan loved his family passionately, loved his Saviour fully, and loved the Word of God. He was always eager to discuss these loves with anyone who would listen.

A Celebration of Life was held at First Baptist Church, Tillsonburg on July 29, 2026. Interment at Zion Hill Cemetery, Thamesford.
