Some thoughts on the theme
We are excited about the conference theme! Since being missional is the FMCIC’s first priority, the theme reflects a commitment to being passionate about the mission of God while remembering that what we are doing is in continuity with those who have gone before us. After considering several scripture passages, we have concluded that Hebrews 12:1-2 would be a good anchor passage for the 2011 General Conference. Taken in context, those two verses recognize that God has been at work historically (“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses”–the great heroes of the faith in chapter 11), and we now have the opportunity, in this generation, to “get on” with doing what the Lord has always desired from his people.
