The Importance of Staying Connected
The Free Methodist Church in Canada serves our local churches. In order to serve, we need to stay connected – especially with our local church treasurers. This is how we can update you on important information, CRA compliance, update reports, as well as provide payroll and benefit services.

The Treasurer’s Email
We are pleased to serve and connect with over 125 local church treasurers across our country! As more and more information is being sent and processed digitally, we find it necessary to ensure that we are sending and receiving information to the right people – especially when treasurers change. To manage confidential communication between the FMCIC and local church treasurers, we are asking that every local church create a dedicated “TREASURER” email address that is owned by your local church board.

Sample Treasurer Email
When dealing with sensitive and confidential information such as payroll, benefits and/or other church financial information, we often send out private or confidential information that should not be going to a personal email address.
We cannot release any financial documents to a personal address without first receiving an authorization letter from the board to put in our files. Once you have created your dedicated ‘TREASURER’ email, please send us an authorizing letter for our files.
Please note: It is critical that the treasurer email, name and contact phone number used by FMCIC and the CRA match!
The benefit to your church is that this dedicated ‘TREASURER’ email will not change when you transition from one treasurer to another. And whomever is involved in your church financial matters (payroll/group benefits/pension/CORE Giving) can have access to this treasurer email address ensuring that all the right people are getting the current information. Adopting a church-owned dedicated treasurer email also allows the Official Board access if an emergency situation arises where your treasurer cannot respond to time-sensitive or critical information.
The FMCIC is preparing to move forwards with sending payroll debit advice and CORE Giving Reports directly from the system – in order to do this, we will need the church to have a dedicated church treasurer email.
And finally, having a dedicated ‘TREASURER’ email address for your church means that we can both (your church and FMCIC) can easily track communications on financial matters. For this reason, we are asking that if you are sending information or responding to an email requesting information about payroll, benefits and finance, please only use your local church’s dedicated treasurer email. This will ensure that we are getting information from the approved source, that we know that all the right people are getting the same information, and we can maintain an email conversation history (This is not possible if information is coming from multiple email addresses).
