What else is there? We’ve covered finances, time, talents, health, the environment. These are the things we most often think of in terms of our role as stewards. But really, we are stewards of everything in our lives. James 1:17 says “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (NIV)

We were designed to be in relationship with others, to be in community. But often we neglect to see the people in our lives as gifts from God. Part of our responsibility as stewards is to nurture and invest in the relationships we have been given. What would change in your relationships with your spouse, your children, your parents, friends, co-workers if you were to see these relationships as something to be stewarded?

In several places in the New Testament (including 1 Corinthians 4:1,2 and 1 Thessalonians 2:4) we read that we have been entrusted with “the secret things of God” – the gospel. And those who have been entrusted must prove themselves faithful. As believers, we are stewards of the gospel.
