Henry Schnell of Calgary passed away March 17, 2017 at the age of 98 years.
Henry was born in Genesee, Alberta, the fifth of ten children. Following his marriage to Grace Henry made his living in construction before becoming a pastor.

After being ordained in 1955 as a Free Methodist pastor, he made himself available to serve the Lord and left his mark on the lives of the many people who lived in the various communities where he, along with his late wife Grace, pastored in Ellice and Calgary, Alberta; in Springfield and Medford, Oregon; in Weyburn, Saskatchewan and in Sedro Wooley, Washington. They eventually retired in Calgary where they remained active in their church and community. Henry will be especially remembered for his love of music, a quick and rich sense of humor, hosting the Seniors’ Breakfasts, discussing theology and politics, and his “pastor’s heart”.

In his tribute to Henry, Bishop Elford wrote, “When we served together on the same pastoral team in Calgary, I observed Henry as a person who cared about people and, who talked to the Lord about them in the place of prayer… The grace of God was abundant in his life… He waved “stuff” off with a smile and a “Well, … things happen. But anyways …” And the subject changed. He had interests beyond the small things.… He loved Jesus not only as Saviour, but also as Lord! He served the Lord with optimism and perseverance.”
Henry was predeceased by his loving wife, Grace, in 2012. He is survived by his son Keith; Sharon and David Harris, Merlette Schnell and one grandson.
We thank the Lord for this servant’s life-long service in the Kingdom.
