In Uxbridge, Ontario on September 9, 2014, Alice passed into the presence of Christ at the age of 90. Alice, originally from New York, attended Annesley College in Ottawa, the Holiness Movement Bible School. It was there that she first heard the “Eyre” name.

Serving alongside her husband the Rev. Donald W. Eyre, their first appointment was at the Prescott Holiness Movement Church in Ontario. Over the next 30 years the Eyre’s continued to faithfully pastor Free Methodist congregations at Pine Grove and Sweet’s Corners, Renfrew and Haley’s Station, Frankford and Uxbridge. Alice held the distinction of Deaconess within the Conference.

Alice was a loyal wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, dedicated pastor’s spouse and exemplary nurse who understood that the purpose of life was to compassionately share her life with everyone with whom she came into contact. That included patients in hospital, parishioners in her local church, neighbours on the street and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. No one was excluded from her circle of influence.

Alice was predeceased by her husband of 59 years in 2012, as well as her son Paul in 1998, and her granddaughter Marissa Wilson in 1996. She is survived by her children Lloyd Eyre, Ruth Moore, Marcia Wilson, Carol Moore, and their spouses, 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

We are grateful for a long life of service to the church and her Lord.
