‘Honour the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops;
then your barns will be filled to overflowing,
and your vats will brim over with new wine’
(Proverbs 3:9-10).

Who we are:
The Free Methodist Foundation in Canada (the Foundation) is a public charitable foundation established in 1998 for the specific and exclusive benefit of the Free Methodist Church in Canada (FMCIC).  The Foundation’s primary mandate is to support the mission and planned giving ministry initiatives of FMCIC through the receipt and then governance of both general and endowment-gifted funds.

What we do:
The Foundation is responsible and accountable for the stewardly administration and investment of gifted funds to FMCIC. Its presence ensures that donated funds create a capital base which is separate and distinct from the general church operating funds. Donors considering  gifts, whether large or small,  can be assured their contribution will have long-term benefit and not be depleted to meet short-term operational needs of the church.

We strongly support and encourage the work of the Free Methodist Church’s Stewardship Development Director in the effort to educate and promote the importance and benefits of a biblically rooted planned giving program.

The Foundation provides the medium for generating investment income on donated funds that then affords the on-going funding stream for established endowments, scholarships and various other designated ministries.

Both the selection and ongoing monitoring of an independent Investment Manager is a prime responsibility of the Foundation.

Mission Statement:
To complement the mission and ministry of The Free Methodist Church in Canada by being an efficient repository for donated funds as well as an encourager and supporter of a biblically based stewardship program for all Free Methodist Church in Canada adherents.

Purpose/Objectives:
The Foundation serves The Free Methodist Church in Canada  as a repository for endowment funds established by FMCIC and constituent members to provide financial support for denominational needs.  As such, the Foundation’s role is principally to preserve capital while generating as much income as reasonably possible for those needs.

More specifically, to:
Solicit and receive gifts of real and personal property for endowment purposes and to administer such gifts subject to any condition, restriction or limitation imposed by the donors.

To invest all of the assets of the Foundation under an established Statement of Investment Policies.

To provide a planned giving repository to the constituency of FMCIC

To offer investment services to agencies of FMCIC

Organizational Structure:
The Foundation was incorporated in January 1998 under the laws of Canada as a charitable organization. It is termed a parallel public foundation to FMCIC, and has been established without share capital. There are no shareholders.

The official Board of the Foundation is comprised of a minimum of 5 elected members who must be approved by the Board of Administration of FMCIC and who must agree to abide by the Church’s Book of Discipline.

In the event of dissolution of the Foundation, it is mandated that the net assets would be transferred back to the Free Methodist Church in Canada.

The Canadian Ministry Centre of FMCIC is the documented Head office of the Foundation.
