This weekend Karlene and I worshiped with Shiloh FM in Seeley’s Bay Ontario. Loved the time they took to celebrate answers to prayer during the service. I believe that this is an essential component of a service, big or small church. If we pray during the service then isn’t it God-honouring to celebrate the next week how He has responded to our prayers?
On Sunday evening we drove to our FM Church in Cloyne. The Fall colours on the drive were beautiful. We pot-lucked (thank you Cloyne for the warm welcome and great food) and we had a time to open the Word and worship.
Today I have attached a link to an interview with Pastor Blake Found of the Uxbridge FM Church. I think that this small Church family has used its sanctified imagination, which also requires courage. Courage to try something new, to realize that new initiatives will cause some to push back at best, and be angry at worst. Courage to recognize that some ideas will not work, and courage to bounce back and keep prayerfully trying.
I appreciate that the people of God are not lab-rats to be experimented on with new ideas, so I am not talking about experimenting! What’s the difference between experimenting and sanctified imagination? Experimentation is cold and sterile, and is primarily the idea and responsibility of the researcher (or pastor) alone; a sanctified imagination on the other hand involves PRAYER as a Church family, buy-in from Church family for the sake of the mission, compassion, LOVE. Trying new and prayerful ideas can be a part of spreading our wings, exercising faith muscles, and learning about each other, our stories, gifts and personalities.
If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact Pastor Blake. Watch the video here.
Thank you to pastors who have already responded to the request to review and update delegate information. If you have not yet confirmed your local church delegate, please refer to the email sent out yesterday afternoon on the pastors listserv and follow the instructions provided.

2022 SCHOLARSHIPS https://fmcic.ca/scholarships/
LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP PLAN (LSP):
The Leadership Scholarship Plan (LSP) provides financial assistance to candidates who are studying to meet the educational requirements for credentialed ministry, or for members of conference pursuing continuing education.
October 15 is the deadline to apply for LSP for any courses taken during the summer and/or fall semesters of 2022. The 2022 application forms and instructions are now available to download from the link above. Please use the application forms marked “rev 2022.”
SPECIAL SCHOLARSHIPS:
The Special Scholarships provide financial assistance to those who are members of a Free Methodist church pursuing post-secondary education to grow in their Christian faith, to those who are pursuing credentialed ministry, and to members of conference pursuing continuing education.
October 15 is the deadline to apply for the annual Special Scholarships for courses taken during the 2022 calendar year – apply online anytime from the link above. Special Scholarships are awarded in late November/early December each year.
CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS (CEUs) https://fmcic.ca/
Ordained and Commissioned Ministers (except retirees) are to annually report hours acquired during each year for Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Check the link above for information on CEUs, and a list of examples of many different types of life-long learning that can be applied as CEUs.
You can now send a report online anytime you have hours to submit for CEUs. Here is the link: https://fmcic.wufoo.com/forms/continuing-education-unit-ceu-report-form/
Note: For those who attend the fall Minister’s Conferences or the spring Regional Gatherings, attendance is now taken at these events so 6 hours of CEU credit for each event will automatically be recorded.
For those who took courses and/or did in-depth research and learning about how to make the changes required during the pandemic (ie how to live-stream services), add the number of those hours to your annual CEU report.
