40 Days of Prayer & Fasting for the Renewal of the FMCIC
Perhaps you have read the statistics and heard the predictions, that the church in Canada is in decline. The FMCIC is part of that decline and we believe we can do our part to reverse this statistic as we ask the Lord for a fresh outpouring of His Spirit upon us. The early church was up against it even more than we are and during a prayer meeting the Spirit filled them and changed the world. With this scriptural encouragement in mind, soon after our last General Conference the National Prayer Team was formed. As a team we were asked to help the FMCIC become a “house of prayer” so that we might experience renewal. We have been promoting prayer in a number of ways including enlisting Prayer Partners, sending out monthly Prayer Point Updates, and holding monthly national prayer meetings.
We are inviting our movement to press even deeper into prayer. To that end, we are planning: “40 Days of Prayer and Fasting for Renewal of the Free Methodist Church in Canada”. This will take place during the 40 days leading up to our “If My People Prayer Summit” and General Conference.
- We are inviting churches from across Canada to sign up to be part of a 24/7 prayer relay over these 40 days.
- We will be providing a daily devotional on prayer, written by a variety of leaders and intercessors in the FMCIC.
- We will provide specific things you can be praying and giving thanks for, as it relates to our family of churches.
- You can encourage people to choose some form of fasting during that 40 days (eg. a 24hr hour fast, refrain from sugar during the 40 days, once a week fast, etc.)
Would your church be willing to commit to one of these 40 days and have your people take turns in praying around the clock during that day? (If you are a smaller church, you may want to team up with another church.)
