Leadership Development

The Leadership Scholarship Plan (LSP) was initiated to provide financial assistance to students pursuing post-secondary educational studies in approved schools. The LSP program is funded jointly by Lorne Park Foundation and The Free Methodist Church in Canada and administered by the FMCiC office

One of the core values of all Free Methodist churches is learning. We seek to invest strategically to mature those who desire to grow in their Christian faith. Developing future leaders is critical to fulfilling our national church mission.

Having these values, faithful visionaries of our Canadian church established educational support programs, which have now become a centralized program for awarding scholarships. These are funded by auxiliary, legacy funds derived from college endowments through the Free Methodist Foundation in Canada and the Lorne Park Foundation.

This award is made to an entering student from the Free Methodist denomination who is planning to enroll at Emmanuel Bible College in Kitchener, Ontario in a ministerial or missions related certificate, diploma or degree program.  It provides $150 per course for the first four courses taken in Distance Education and/or $500 to a new full-time, in-class student.  The total annual disbursement is $750.

Please note: The FMCiC preference for LSP is for students to attend one of the approved schools on this list. However, if you decide to apply at a non-approved school, you must first send a request to the Credentialing Coordinator to determine whether the committee will approve funding for you to study at a non-approved school. Along with your request, please include a written explanation as to why you are choosing to study at a non-approved school. It is strongly recommended that you do this before paying tuition, and well in advance of the LSP deadline. The Credentialing Coordinator, along with the LSP committee, will consider each request individually and according to LSP policy.
