CliffsNotes – January 25, 2022

FMCiC, I encourage you to make sure that
these two initiatives are in your calendars…

So nice to be travelling more! Karlene and I were with Rustle Church in Kingston this past weekend. They showed me a table full of beautiful mittens that had been knitted by other Free Methodist people in the area. Rustle Church is located in a very low-income community, so these handcrafted mittens are one of the many gifts this Church family gives the community – in fact, Rustle has given out over 75 pairs of mittens this winter! There was a pile of containers of frozen soup at the entrance way. “Rustlers” were encouraged to bring soup home and a wrapped bun. Thanks Rustlers for loving your community!

February is Black History Month:
The theme for Black History Month 2022 in Canada is “February and Forever: Celebrating Black History today and every day.” FMCiC, in our quest / responsibility to become a PEOPLE OF PEACE, we must fully engage in celebrating, learning, understanding each other, our culture, our stories, our histories. Black History Month does not only belong to our schools or to the History Channel. Church, it belongs to us because it is a peace initiative.
Please send me ideas you have about FMCiC celebrating Black History Month, and events planned in your churches. Please take time to view the Intercultural Engagement Team’s Facebook page, and updates for Black History initiatives. Also, click here to view other FMCiC resources.

FMCiC Lent Prayer Initiative:
Lent is an ancient tradition of the Church, which when practiced with a right heart and not just as a religious duty, can be a significant spiritual experience. Imagine, the Church globally, setting aside 40 days to remember Jesus’ sacrifice, love, promises, AND to examine our own lives in order to repent and pursue reconciliation in all of our relationships. Imagine if the FMCiC decided to commit to 40 days to rememberpray, repent, and reconcile. 40 days with a national desire to hear from God and be responsive!?! FMCiC I am inviting you into this prayer season.
More information will be sent out next month about this initiative. You do not have to sign up. The FMCiC Lent Prayer initiative will be kicked off with a virtual National Ash Wednesday Service.
