The Free Methodist Church around the world
The FMC began cross-cultural ministry in the 1880s, so we have a long history of evangelism, church-planting and wholistic ministry engagement around the world. Today the FMC is doing ministry in more than 80 countries, on every continent – in most cases entirely developed and led by national Christians. Global Partnerships
The primary way that Canadian FM churches are involved in cross-cultural ministry is via local church initiatives. That is, vision for mission engagement internationally is rooted in the desire and initiative of local churches; this may include the formation of an ongoing ministry partnership, the support of missionaries sent as an extension of their own congregation’s vision, and/or financial and personal participation in a variety of international mission projects, including short ministry trips/teams. Canadian missionaries – long & short-term
Short and Long-term Canadian missionaries are sent out through the initiative of local churches. The FMCiC believes that ministry leaders (whether pastors or missionaries) are identified, developed and recommended as the result of their involvement in local church ministry. As a local church is involved in global ministry, persons may offer themselves for long or short-term service in the fulfillment of the congregation’s God-given vision. Wholistic ministry engagement
The Free Methodist Church has a long history of engagement in wholistic ministry integrated with church planting and congregational life. In the past this involved the development of schools, technical training, hospitals, child support and crisis response. Today wholistic child support, in partnership with Free Methodist local churches, is continued through International Child Care Ministries . Likewise, our involvement with humanitarian crises and longer-term community development, including food security and micro-finance, is greatly aided through our partnership with World Relief Canada and its network of international partners.

International Projects
In various locations around the world, Canadian Free Methodist churches are involved in specific ministry development projects. In all these cases the projects are overseen by Canadian churches, Canadian missionaries, or their national partners in a manner that satisfies the requirements of Canada Revenue for the distribution of charitable funds receipted in Canada.
